Mediatech Extended Hours for Summer 2017

The Mediatech Center will be open for extended hours this summer, including Scratch and Stop Motion Animation Camp. The hours are as follows:

Camp Week #1: June 24th to 28th

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 12 noon-5 pm Tuesday & Friday

No Camp Week: July 3rd to July 7th

  • Closed on Tuesday the 4th of July – Happy Independence Day!
  • Extended Center hours 9 am-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 9 am-5 pm Friday

Camp Week #2: July 10th to 14th

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 12 noon-5 pm Tuesday & Friday

Camp Week #3: July 17th to 22nd

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 12 noon-5 pm Tuesday & Friday

Camp Week #4: July 24th to 28th

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 12 noon-5 pm Tuesday & Friday

Lindbergh Flight Simulation Weekend

  • Saturday, August 5th at 8 am through Sunday, August 6th into the afternoon
  • Continuously open for pilots and their families–sleep over

Camp Week #5: July 31st to August 4th

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Extended Center Hours 12 noon-5 pm Tuesday & Friday

Camp Week #6: August 7th to 11th

  • Scratch Camp only 9 am-12 noon
  • Extended Center hours 12 noon-7 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday

Mediatech Scratch Camps Summer 2017

This summer, Mediatech will run Scratch Camp 9 am-12 noon Monday through Friday for six weeks with extended Mediatech Center hours.

According to Wikipedia:

Scratch is a free visual programming language developed by the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Media Lab. Scratch is used by students, scholars, teachers, and parents to easily create animations, games, etc. It provides a stepping stone to the more advanced world of computer programming. It can also be used for a range of educational and entertainment constructionist purposes from math and science projects, including simulations and visualizations of experiments, recording lectures with animated presentations, to social sciences animated stories, and interactive art and music.

The dates for Scratch Camp are:

  • Week 1: June 24th – June 28th
  • Week 2: July 10th – July 14th
  • Week 3: July 17th – July 22nd
  • Week 4: July 24th – July 28th
  • Week 5: July 31st – August 4th
  • Week 6: August 7th – August 11th

Mediatech Camps and the Center are well supervised. The lead teacher is a certified educator with coding and tech experience. Call the library at (908) 782-5733 to put your child on the list. Spaces fill up quickly! The cost is $100 per student. Scholarships are available and donations for scholarships are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated. Mediatech is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

New .NET User Group

The first meeting of the Flemington .NET User Group will include a presentation by Jeff Widmer on Twilio Voice and Text Messaging.  Jeff will demonstrate how to send and receive Text Messaging SMS and also show off the Voice capabilities which could be used to build an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.  The first meeting will be on Wednesday, February 8th at 6:30 at the Flemington Public Library.  Future meetings generally will be on the second Wednesday of the month.
